A disgruntled resident has found a blinding way to protest against a streetlight that is too bright - an oversize frilly lampshade. The bright spark responsible, who did not wish to be named, scaled the 25ft tall light column in Weymouth, Dorset, and attached the home-made pink adornment. The item, which is about 5ft tall and has a fetching pink feather boa trim, is now causing great amusement to local residents and passers-by.
Residents said they had been complaining about the power of the light's bulb ever since it was erected on Weymouth seafront recently.
It stands directly opposite two homes whose owners have compared it with staring at a car headlight or having a torch shone in their eyes.
Other locals have complained they can’t look at the sea because of the blinding effect of the Victorian lamp.
